The 6 most common mistakes when choosing an alarm
We often find gaps in alarm installations, caused by lack of knowledge, a poor study or too much cost-cutting. Fixing them usually costs more than doing it right the first time.
1. Ignoring certifications
The quality of a system is tied to its certifications against international standards. Ask about them.
2. Choosing on looks or price alone
An alarm is not a decoration. Ask for a branded solution with written factory warranties and a guarantee that the settings work properly.
3. Installation by non-specialists
Only turn to people who specialise in alarm systems. Do not hesitate to ask to see the installer’s operating licence.
4. Not knowing your options
Many people do not know what they need or what exists. A good technical adviser will show you the solutions and will still be there after installation.
5. Incomplete handover
An alarm you do not know how to use ends up switched off. Ask to be shown every function and ask for instructions in your language.
6. No connection to a monitoring centre
Without a 24-hour connection, much of the alarm’s usefulness is lost. With it, every break-in or fault is made known to you and your technician at once.
